"My husband and I actually were looking at another home builder's model when we came to the Providence Crossing development. We were negotiating with this other home builder for 2 months and they were not trying to give us any deals or try to work with us on anything. Once we drove into the development, we didn't even make it into their model. We walked into the Stonewood model home and was kindly greeted by the realtor there. We knew they had a quick delivery model available but didn't realize that it had everything we were trying to negotiate with the other home builder, and more! As soon as we walked in the house, we fell in love. We both knew that we could see ourselves in this house for a long time. We worked with the builder on some concerns and he was very accommodating to our needs. We signed less than a month after seeing it and closed a month after that. We have been in our house for 7 months now and we love it! We recently went into the other home builder's model and I can definitely say that I see the differences in the building quality between the two builders. "My husband and I have been looking in the Smyrna, Clayton, Dover area since 2004 for a home. We came to Providence Crossing and began comparing the three builders in the development. We had never heard of Stonewood Builders, but their motto of Integrity and Quality caught our eye. In 2007, after many false starts, research, and numerous trips down Route 1, we bought Stonewood’s Rodney model. We made the right choice and couldn’t be happier in our new home. We bought our home from Stonewood because of the following reasons:
1) Their friendly, knowledgeable, available sales staff (RE/Max) and reputable mortgage broker (Chase). We had their sales staff list our old home and it sold in two days! No creative accounting or hidden fees and closing was quite smooth.
2) Over the years, we checked out about fifteen area builders who are all the same in that they “nickel and dime” you with features. (Extra for two car garage, garbage disposal, etc.). With Stonewood, many features are standard: 42” cabinets, two car garage, house wrap, and more. We saved $84,000 in features which lowers our mortgage and gives us more money in our pockets.
3) Providence Crossing is only 2.7 miles to Route 13, Route 1, shopping, etc.
4) Having lived in New Castle County all our lives, we love Kent County. We actually live in the country where crime is practically non-existent; taxes and car insurance are lower; pollution is less; and there is the all important “Peace and Quiet”. Plus new homes in Kent County are approximately $150,000 less expensive than in New Castle County.
After being in our home one year, we submitted our correction list which consisted of two minor items. Stonewood made an appointment and came out straight away to fix the two items.
We sincerely believe and stand behind the quality, cost effectiveness, and caring that is built into every Stonewood home. They build their homes with love. Your home is the most costly investment you make. Do yourself the biggest favor you can during these turbulent economic times. Come down and see for yourself. You won’t be sorry, but rather, you will be glad you came. I think Stonewood Builders is the best kept secret in Clayton, Delaware.
